WOW, big thanks!

posted Jul 22, 2011 11:31 AM by Kim Guthrie

A great big shout out of "thanks" for all who came out to support me and Hob Nob at my show and opening! It was my first one man show here in the Delta,..for that matter, I think my first one man show at a real gallery.THANKYOU to all who shopped, purchased, advertised, ate, drank and welcomed me to Leland.I was very nervous before hand, but I prayed and just put it in God's hands.I was like,"okay God, you inspired this art and gave me the gifts and hands and heart to produce it,you do what you want with the show".God took it and ran, He BLESSED me abundantly with sales and took care of nerves and I got to meet lots of new people.I am now concentrating on my next show,in April 2012 at EE Bass..stay tuned.Meanwhile I have art that continues to hang at Montage Marketplace, Hob Nob, The Delta Grind, Delta Regional Airport and Delta Regional Medical Center.Coming soon in September ,look for myself and all the other local artists who will have a show with The Delta Artists Association at EE Bass Cultural Arts Center.

New in my portfolio is local and regional photographs that I artistically enhance.* see attatchment

Delta Artists Association Annual Show 2010

posted Sep 26, 2010 10:49 AM by Kim Guthrie

We enjoyed a nite of awards and art appreciation at the DAA Anual Show at Bass Arts Center in Greenville. The show will hang there through most of October, go by and check out all the winners and should be winners.I felt honored and blessed to get an award of merit for my paper mache piece"Take a Leap Frog".When you see him you decide in your own interpretation of the idea that he is running towards getting engaged or bolting as fast as he can(we call it hauling a_ _)away from the prospect of engagement. Also shown here is my newest stab at oil painting,"Blue Room Blues". Although it did not receive an award it was purchased by a very nice young lady and I am proud to say it will be included in a private collection and go to a good new home."Blue Room Blues"was painted from a photo I took of a very talented horn player at the Atlanta  Blues club called the Blue Room.Fun Times...

Creative Art Class

I had a great art class that stretched the imagination and cooperation in a collaborative process of drawing and painting. The class was at ArtWorks on the Square in Fayetteville, and was taught by renowned Atlanta artist Miles Davis. My collaborative artist was Kathleen Brewer and as seen in the attatched photo we had our minds stimulated and were able to create a sucessful piece together. All in all great fun! To see more art or learn about upcoming shows or classes,  artworksonthesquare.com and massiveburnstudios.com. Happy painting!

My First Paper Mache

posted Oct 5, 2009 4:08 AM by Kim Guthrie

I have become so enamored with Paper Mache after taking a class at the D Art Center , under the "Master of Paper Mache", Nancy Wall . It is not as easy as she makes it look , and extremely time consuming . But after many hours and several unfinished attempts , here is my first piece entitled "Give And It Will Be Given". The piece includes a piggy bank and it along with a painting I did entitled "Piggy A Prancin" , will be auctioned for an American Cancer Society charity event , November 7th . Go to www.baronsball.com for more info .

It has been awhile since I have written , wow ! Lots going on , we took the ABC Puppy Coloring Book to Vegas.Had a great time and had great response to our product.I would call it a sucess! I have been working on several comissions for pet portraits and if you are in Norfolk ,please visit the CUDDLY HIPPO, in Mac Carthur Mall downtown to see several dog prints and originals. You can even pick up one of the ABC Puppy Coloring Books there which support a good cause.

With it being the 4th, I just want to do a heart felt shout out of THANKYOU to our men women and families of the US Military!

Wow, the opening nite was a great event. Very tasty and eye pleasing food, and the wine was flowing.I especially loved the cake that was decorated like paint palettes and brushes. The event was a classy, well run show and sale. I was so EXCITED to have heard that I sold 5 out of 6 paintings only an hour after doors opened. Thanks to all who bought! If you wanted a piece but it was sold, don't despair,I am putting more in the show today to replace those that sold.If you still would like a piece of my work, but havent found the right one, no problem, just contact me (click on contact Kim) and I will be happy to discuss a comission for just the right piece for you.If you got my name from the school,I will even send them a comission for the referrral. thanks again for your support, kim
